Lake Louise is an extremely popular attraction about 45-minutes north of the city of Banff. We visited Lake Louise twice on our Canadian adventure. The first night was on our way from a drive to Columbia Ice Fields. It was a bit rainy and sometimes chilly so it is always important that you carry a warm sweater, fuzzy hat and water proof windbreaker during the summer.

Luke's unique jacket zips all the way to the top of his head! Fortunately, it wasn't that cold or windy:

You will find glaciers at Lake Louise so if you only have a few days in Banff National Park you do not have to drive to Jasper National Park for The Columbia Ice Fields, although Icefields Parkway is a very scenic drive. Click on Jasper National Park link above for images of our drive earlier in the day.

Lake Louise offers a flat paved walking path for about a half mile so if you are not up for a scenic hike up to one of the tea houses, you can still visit and enjoy the beautiful scenery. There is also a place to rent a canoe or paddle board which was closed on our first visit due to weather concerns.

This is the view when you've walked most of the flat path along Lake Louise:

We visited the hotel to eat but the main restaurant was limited to hotel guests and those who had made reservations so we ate in the deli. The food was average but the Singaporean staff member was very friendly and even treated me to her favorite dessert pastry with our order. It pays to be nice to everyone and I find it makes traveling much more enjoyable.

I wish I would have snapped a picture of kind server and the dessert but I got this "artsy shot" of a dead tree along the path instead:
